Michael Bolton in Concert at the PNE 2010

Believe it or not, up until this year PNE I did not know who Michael Bolton was. I did enjoy his performance and concert. I am glad that I was introduced to a very famous artist.

The Road to Shambhala

For me, Shambhala is about two things: the awesome road-trip with gorgeous sights, and the out of this world Grand Forks Hotel potato and cheese voreniki.

Sadly, I can't share the voreniki here but at least I can share the sights:

Mid-Summer Thing

I have a difficult time remembering what I did in the last two weeks. Between moving, packing, unpacking, camping and festival work I also shot another wedding, added about 800km of driving to my record and completely got over my fear of driving near huge trucks.

So, here's the good stuff:

My best friend's wedding & HSBC Celebration of Light 2010

I have an awesomely insane best friend who every year manages to surprise me with crazier and crazier ideas - wonderful, but crazy ideas - like the time she called on a Wednesday at 12.01 am to tell me that she's getting married in 3 days. I have no idea how she managed to pull it off in 72 hours but I'll never doubt her event organizing skills again. The ceremony was intimate, romantic and I cried my eyes out while trying to take photos.

The HSBC Celebration of Light 2010

Coincidentally B's wedding happened the same night one of the biggest events in Vancouver was taking place, the HSBC Celebration of Light. Every year about 250,000 guests come to Vancouver's English Bay to participate in a night of mayhem and chaos. Oh, and there are fireworks too.

What not to do when attempting to take photos of fireworks

1. Forget your tripod
2. Attempt to take long exposure photos while hand holding your camera
3. Pick a crowded spot
4. Get stuck behind people taller than you
5. Give up

This is what you'll end up with:
